Back Home to Price of Liberty

Non-Violence is the Only Way!

This website is firmly opposed to the use of violence. Violence destroys the moral stature and credibility of those who use it. It terrorizes others, and causes justifiable backlash. The ends never justify the means. For all practical purposes, the means are the ends.

This website is also opposed to anarchy. Anarchy is not liberty, it is the worst form of tyranny, the tyranny of terror.

From time to time, some "rebels" come to believe that violence is a form of self-expression that somehow makes them "non-conforming" and therefore special. Nonsense! Unfortunately, violence is anything but unusual in our world and human history. Non-violence is what can make us more non-conforming. Non-violence in the pursuit of justice makes us holy. Non-violence combined with radical deep thought in the pursuit of truth or beauty is divine. (It may still not be as sexy as violence, though. And that is another reason why humanity is probably doomed: the sexiness of violence.)

That much is obvious to most people, but this website is even opposed, in principle, to the use of violence in so-called "self defense," particularly the defense of property. Elsewhere in this site it is demonstrated that all property is stolen (if you go back far enough in time). On what moral basis, therefore, can property be defended by violence? I cringe when I hear stories of burglers being shot and killed. Altruism, the basis of all morality, tells us that if someone needs something more than we do, we should give it to them. And if they are asking for it, they probably need it. Jesus tells us to do that much and more. Likewise he tells us to turn the other cheek to violence against ourselves and persecution. Finally, his life story tells us to even accept death from our enemies.
