Commonly called employment, wage slavery means that people's productive capacity is controled by someone else. This is what Marx complained about but had no reasonable solution for. My suggestions are here.
In most of the world, localities are losing power to central governments. The result is that there is less political diversity and therefor less choice. It also means that the influence of a voter over the laws that apply to him decreases, since his impact is much smaller on a central government than on a local government. This centralization of power has been largely driven by liberals who want to force their views on everyone. The liberals are then quite shocked when this is turned against them, for example when someone like John Ashcroft becomes Attorney General.
Humans are not evolving because there is no natural selection. Instead, we are genetically drifting randomly (or worse when the government pays welfare recipients to have children). This is a serious problem which I don't know the answer to.
Children grow up over-stimulated with TV and video games. They spend too little time just quietly by themselves, which is what is required to develop a reasonable attention span. Without a reasonable attention span, people cannot think deeply about anything.
The primary purpose of university eduction seems to be to kill common sense. This is done by making students follow various thought processes without understanding them. This is especially true (for most students) in mathematics. Common sense is based on understanding, so by training the mind to function without understanding, common sense is destroyed. This prepares students for the corporate world where they will spend their lives doing things that make no sense. It also helps people accept our major political parties. One other effect of universities is to pull students out of their home towns. This helps destroy communities.
